Held at The Saffrons in Eastbourne, 22nd May, the annual fundraising event welcomed more than 400 guests for an afternoon of gourmet dining, fine wine, and fundraising in aid of St Wilfrid's Hospice.
East Sussex College's Uniformed Protective Services students volunteered at the event, taking on the important responsibility of serving food to more than 400 guests throughout the afternoon.
Their professionalism, attention to detail, and positive attitude were praised by both the catering company and attendees, helping to ensure the event ran smoothly and providing guests with an excellent experience.
The event achieved its highest-ever fundraising total, thanks to the generosity of local businesses, sponsors, donors, and attendees. The funds raised will directly support St Wilfrid's Hospice's specialist end-of-life care and support services for patients and their families across Eastbourne and the surrounding areas.
Heather Stokes, Deputy Head of Curriculum for Health & Social Care at East Sussex College was part of the event's organising committee and commented, "Our Uniformed Protective Services students were absolutely fantastic on the day. Serving more than 400 guests is no small task, but they approached it with professionalism, enthusiasm, and maturity from start to finish. The feedback we received from the catering company and guests was overwhelmingly positive, with many commenting on how polite, helpful, and hardworking the students were. They were a real credit to themselves and the College."
The event's success highlights the strength of community partnerships across East Sussex and the positive impact that young people can have when given opportunities to support meaningful local causes.
East Sussex College would like to congratulate St Wilfrid's Hospice, the organising committee, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone involved in making the Summer Lunch such an outstanding success.
