UPS students learn hands-only CPR for ‘Restart A Heart’ Campaign

UPS students learn hands-only CPR for ‘Restart A Heart’ Campaign

The East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) visited East Sussex College Eastbourne recently as part of their ‘Restart A Heart’ campaign to deliver CPR training to Uniformed Protective Services (UPS) students with the assistance of Level 3 students and Fire Cadets.

The ‘Restart A Heart’ campaign is led by the Resuscitation Council UK alongside its partners – St John Ambulance, the British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, and many Ambulance Service Trusts.

ESFRS, supporters of this fantastic campaign, visited UPS students at ESC Eastbourne to teach them hands only CPR, how to use a defibrillator and the recovery positions.

ESFRS identified there are over 30,000 cardiac arrests, across the UK, outside of hospital every year, and sadly less than 1 in 10 people survive. As part of this campaign, they want to encourage people to learn how to perform CPR and use an AED until further help arrives.

To find out more about how to perform hands-only CPR while minimising the risk of Covid-19 and other infections, please watch the below video made by the Resuscitation Council UK.
