This event provided primary school students from the Eastbourne area with a chance to engage in interactive learning around fire safety, road safety, water safety, and 999 call handling.
East Sussex College students played a key role in the success of the day, helping with activities and guiding the young visitors throughout the event.
The event was an essential part of the UPS students' community project for their course, where they put their knowledge into practice and supported the delivery of important safety messages to the local schools. The day was packed with fun yet informative activities, all aimed at teaching children crucial safety skills in a hands-on way.
As part of Safety in Action Week, the UPS students took the opportunity to support their local services and utility stakeholders in promoting safety within the community. The event focused on teaching primary school students about fire safety, road safety, water safety, and how to handle a 999 call - vital skills for everyone to know.
The primary school students took part in various activities, learning directly from the experts at East Sussex Fire and Rescue.
For the College’s UPS students, this event was an incredible opportunity to gain real-world experience and take on responsibilities while making a difference in their community. They not only supported the children but also helped to ensure the day ran smoothly, acting as guides and mentors.
By engaging with local services and safety professionals, the UPS students contributed to building a safer community, all while further developing their skills and knowledge in uniformed public services.
