The experience gave them a unique insight into military life while developing essential skills for their future careers.
Throughout the week, students were put through their paces with a range of physical and mental challenges. They learned key combat skills, strategic thinking, and discipline, while also improving teamwork, communication, leadership, and organisation - valuable skills for any career path.
Teamwork played a vital role in every task, with students quickly realising the importance of communication and trust to succeed. The activities pushed them outside their comfort zones, helping them build confidence and resilience. Leadership opportunities also emerged, giving students the chance to take charge and develop their decision-making abilities.
The hands-on experience provided a real taste of life in the Army, showing students what it takes to perform under pressure and work effectively as part of a team. Whether they choose a military career or another profession, the skills gained will serve them well in the future.
The UPS department at ESC’s Eastbourne Campus said, “We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the British Army for hosting us and providing such a unique and valuable learning opportunity. Our students have come away with new perspectives, skills, and memories that will stay with them for a lifetime.
“At UPS, we believe that experiences like these are essential in shaping well-rounded individuals, ready to take on the challenges of the future with confidence and resilience.”
