HNC Electrical & Electronic Engineering

Our HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering course can be studied as a stand-alone qualification, or as the first year of the HND qualification. It will give you a broad understanding of Electrical Engineering principles and provide a strong, sector-related emphasis on practical skills. You will study mathematics, modern design, and electrical techniques, as well as mechanical principles to give you a broad understanding of all industrial needs.

What will I study?

During the course you will cover three core modules. During these modules you will explore the details and principles that underpin analytical methods and engineering science. You will also undertake a personal project that will require you to use your creative abilities to design, implement and evaluate a solution to an engineering problem. You may also decide to expand your knowledge in advanced electrical and electronic principles and the measurement and testing of electronics to complete the qualification.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have completed the course you will have a diverse range of transferable skills that will enable you to either, advance in your current role, or push for a promotion in this exciting industry. You may also choose to continue onto the second year of the course to complete the HND programme.

Past students have gone on to work with local businesses such as Qinetiqs, where graduates secure technician, supervisor and management roles. Past students have worked with companies such as EDF, Aero Vintage, Photek, Deutsch(TE), Secol Engineering, VG Scienta, Stevens Rowsell, British Gypsum and Interface Engineering.
