What will I study?

This course has been designed to give new entrants to the engineering sector the underpinning knowledge and specific workshop skills needed to meet the needs of modern workshop. On this course you will study a mix of classroom based topics along side workshop disciplines, which will provide opportunities for you to progress.

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English and/or maths at grade 3.

How will I be assessed?

You will be mostly assessed by completion of a series of practical tasks ensuring you have gained the necessary workshop skills required for entry into the workplace. An exam for math's and science will enable progression to level 3.

What qualification will I achieve?

EAL Performing Engineering Operations L2 NVQ Diploma

What can I do after completing this course?

Students who achieve a pass overall including the math's and science exam can progress to the Engineering T Level, subject to interview. Employers also recognise and value the EAL qualifications and this course can prepare you for progression into an apprenticeship in engineering.

Are there any extra costs?

You will need to provide steel toe capped boots, overalls and a specified calculator. Full details will be confirmed at interview

To progress on this course, and to go further in training or at work, it’s essential to have good English and Math's alongside vocational expertise. All students who have not yet achieved a GCSE in Math's or English (grades A*-C) will continue to study these subjects as a compulsory part of their program and progression to level 3 T Level.
