Explore and develop the well-established therapy treatments of reflexology, aromatherapy and remedial massage. Units in anatomy, physiology and pathology, business practice, health and safety and hygiene will ensure a sound theoretical background for professional practice. Alongside this you will also develop your interpersonal and communication skills with an emphasis on reflection and reflective practice. This increased depth of knowledge will prepare you for work in a variety of settings including hospitals, hospices, health centres and community services for people with additional needs.

This is a course designed to enable students to become successful Complementary Therapy practitioners with the academic knowledge and transferable skills required by the industry. This Level 3 VRQ Diploma course is both stimulating and challenging. It will provide the opportunity to explore and develop the well established therapy treatments of reflexology, aromatherapy and remedial massage with an aim to practise these skills within integrative health care settings. The anatomy, physiology and pathology, business practice as well as health and safety and hygiene units will ensure a sound theoretical background for professional practise. Alongside this you will also develop your interpersonal and communication skills with an emphasis on reflection and reflective practice.
Successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English and maths GCSE at grade 4.
Your knowledge and understanding in these units will be collected in a portfolio of evidence. Guidance for this will come from your assessor. Your assessor may also ask questions to confirm your knowledge and understanding. Your assessor will also observe your practical performance in one assessment. Your grade will be determined by achievement of assessment criteria and achievement of additional performance standards.
Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies
On successful completion of the course, and with a positive reference from your tutor, you will be able to progress to Level 4 in the following year. Alternatively, you may obtain suitable employment in the Spa, Beauty or healthcare industry.
You will be required to purchase the college kit which includes essential equipment, salon work wear and course books. Attendance is compulsory on some trips and visits, which is £25. Details of these will be given, separately at interview.
Additional skills which will help you are: a good standard of appearance to reflect the industry, a genuine interest in people, the ability to communicate, motivation and the will to succeed.
