What will I study?

This Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing aims to provide you with a range of essential and practical skills and knowledge, which will equip you to seek employment or further training within the hairdressing Industry. The skills include carrying out services such as; shampooing, conditioning, styling, dressing and setting hair, cutting and colouring.

This qualification covers all the core skills you will need to progress to further learning and training, or to enter the world of work within the hairdressing industries. You will study the following mandatory content:

  • Principles of hairdressing and barbering services
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Style, set and dress hair
  • Cut hair using basic techniques
  • Colour and lighten hair

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English and/or maths at grade 3.

How will I be assessed?

Portfolio of photographic evidence, assignments and exams.

What qualification will I achieve?

Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing

What can I do after completing this course?

Progress onto Level 3 Hairdressing or beauty therapy or make up level 2 dependent on your career aims.
