You will read widely and independently both set texts and others that you have selected for yourself. You will develop and apply your knowledge of literary analysis and evaluation in writing. You will explore the contexts of the work you are reading, considering the interpretations of others and possible ways of responding to them. A GCSE grade 5 in English Language.,Our general entry requirements to study 3 A-Levels or any mixed level 3 programme are: 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 including English Language and/or Maths at grade 5. Subject specific entry criteria may also apply. Our general entry requirements to study 4 A-Levels are: 6 GCSEs grade 4-9 including English Language and Maths at grade 6. Subject specific entry criteria may also apply.
There will be two examinations at the end of the second year (80%) and one piece of coursework (20%).
English Literature A level
A Level English Literature is highly prized by many universities demonstrating advanced skills in critical reading and discursive essay writing. It provides an excellent basis for a variety of university courses, including humanities, languages and law. It is valued by employers as evidence of excellent communication skills.
