This Diploma course is designed to provide a bridge between Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications. Projects include video production, animation, sound editing, illustration and 3D design. You will be taught by art and media specialists, using industry-standard equipment in our outstanding facilities in Eversley House.

What will I study?

The UAL Level 1 Diploma in Art, Design and Media programme is designed to provide a bridge between Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications. You will study Art, Design and Media over three days every week. Projects include: video production, animation, sound editing, illustration and 3D design. There are clear opportunities for progression onto Level 2 Programmes in Art and Design, Media Production, Performing Arts and Music Production.

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum two grade 2 at GCSE including English and/or maths.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is continuous and based on your coursework. This starts early in the course and runs right through the year. There is no formal examination. You will be given the opportunity to achieve at Level 2 in your final course unit, if appropriate.

What qualification will I achieve?

On completing this course you will achieve the UAL Level 1 in Art, Design and Media.

English - Functional Skills Level 1 or 2, or GCSE English re-take if you achieved a grade D/3 in your GCSE previously.

Maths - Functional Skills Level 1 or 2, or GCSE Maths re-take if you achieved a grade D/3 in your GCSE previously.

What can I do after completing this course?

This course will provide a pathway on to our UAL Level 2 qualifications either in Art and Design or Creative Media Production.

Are there any extra costs?

You may be asked to contribute towards some materials depending on your pathway and specialisms on the course.

This course is run jointly between the Art, Design & Media team, and Foundation Learning. The Foundation Learning team deliver the English and maths element of the study programme.
