What will I study?

During this two-year UAL course, you will explore performance skills in Musical Theatre. This exciting course develops your triple threat skills, with challenging and motivating classes in Dance, Acting for Musical Theatre, Vocal Training, Repertoire & Creative Devised Projects. You will perform in large scale Musicals, performing both internally and at external venues, gaining valuable industry-related experience.

You will be introduced to the realities of a professional working environment and will learn the necessary rehearsal etiquette and professional practice standards required within the industry. Not only that, you'll also have the opportunity to learn first-hand through a variety of exciting workshops and trips to London and New York.

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English and/or maths at grade 4. A successful audition will be required.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is primarily through observation and presentation of practical performance projects supported by written coursework, group critique and individual tutorial. You will also take part in a controlled externally set assessment. We'll encourage you to assess yourself enthusiastically, honestly, and critique your practical projects positively.

What qualification will I achieve?

Once you have completed the first year, you will achieve a Level 3 UAL Performing & Production Arts Diploma, equivalent to 1.5 A-Level. Once you have completed the second year, you will achieve the Extended Diploma, equivalent to 3 A-Levels.

What can I do after completing this course?

This course acts as the first major step towards a career or further training in the Performing Arts industry. Many of our students go on to study at drama schools or universities such as Mountview, Rose Bruford, LAMDA, East 15, Central, Chichester, Middlesex or Kent.

Are there any extra costs?

There will be a £50 additional cost at the start of each year for scripts, course materials, workshops, and production costs. There will also be a £45 per year cost for theatre visits.
