NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Public Services and Outdoor Adventure

During this one-year course you will gain an in-depth knowledge about the role that each of the uniformed protective services play in helping supporting and protecting us. You will develop the teamwork, behavioural and health and fitness skills you need to part of the protective services, and understand crime and how it affects society. Learning will take place in the classroom, the college’s Fitness gym and Wave Leisure sports hall.

There will also be opportunities to represent the college in sports teams and a number of events, where you will represent the college whilst in the public eye.

What will I study?

The course is a one year Level 2 course that develops the basic underpinning knowledge of the requirements for entry into uniformed public services. You will study a total of six units during your time at college incorporating both practical and theoretical elements including:

Pubic Service Skills and Support for the Community Employment in Uniformed Public Services Plus 3 additional units from the optional section.

This qualification is usually studied alongside GCSE Maths and English

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English and/or maths at grade 3.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is through coursework, portfolios and assignments as ongoing assessment. The package offers a well rounded education, which will give an experience of different fields of assessment in preparation to progress onto advanced study on an BTEC Subsidiary Diploma/90 Credit Level 3 course. The qualification grade will be calculated through the accumulation of credits throughout the studied units.

What qualification will I achieve?

BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Preparation for Public Services) (1 x GCSE equivalent)

What can I do after completing this course?

On successful completion of the course, Students may wish to progress on to the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma/90 Credit Public Service Diploma.

Are there any extra costs?

Cost of the course will be approximately £280 which covers: educational visits, outdoor activities, transport, outdoor equipment and coat, insurances and instructor fees
