Sport Cert L3 (Double)

Our Level 3 Sport course (Double) will give you the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours you need to work in the sports industry. You will learn more about anatomy and physiology, sports injuries, sports nutrition, and fitness testing for sport and exercise.

This course is worth 2 A-levels over two years and you must choose an additional A-Level alongside this course to make up your full time programme.

What will I study?

During this exciting Level 3 qualification, you will study six units per year which may consist of the principles of anatomy and physiology, exploring the physiology of fitness, and discovering more about exercise, health and lifestyle. You may also learn about a huge range of sports injuries, how you can treat them, and measures you can take to prevent them. You may also consider diet, sports nutrition, and how it affects performance and gain a solid understanding of fitness testing for sport and exercise. Finally, you may study theories of sports coaching, learn the dynamics of team sports, and preparing for a career in sport.

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English and/or maths at grade 4.

How will I be assessed?

There will be continuous assessments throughout the course as well as specific assessments at set times of the year.

You will produce three coursework-based assignments as well as practical, coaching, presentations and written work for each unit.

What qualification will I achieve?

Once you have completed both years of this course, you will achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Sport & Physical Activity, awarded by NCFE.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have finished this course, you could increase your sports qualifications with a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training.

This qualification is the equivalent of 2 A-Levels which means you may also progress to university to study sports-based degree courses, such as sports science, sports coaching, or sports psychology

Are there any extra costs?

Sports kit is available to purchase via a online shop, additional fees may include educational trips and visits some of this will be mandatory to attend as part of assessment.
