What will I study?

This a two-year course equivalent to three A levels; in the first year you will achieve the Foundation Diploma in Travel & Tourism and in the second year this will be topped up to the Extended Diploma in Travel & Tourism. Topics during the course include ,The World of Travel & Tourism, Global Destinations , Managing the Customer Experience in Travel and Tourism , Travel and Tourism Enterprises , The Airport Experience and Visitor Attractions .

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English and/or maths at grade 4.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed in a number of different ways including: Online examinations, role plays, Short answer question sheets, designing and developing industry materials, individual and group presentations, practical assessments such as Tour Guiding and Supervised Team building activities and written assignments.

What qualification will I achieve?

Travel & Tourism Foundation Diploma Level 3.

What can I do after completing this course?

On completion of the first year you could progress onto the second year to complete the Extended Diploma. After the second year you could progress onto degree level courses at university.

There will also be a number of career opportunities available to you including working as a Retail Travel Consultant, a Tour Guide, Holiday Advisor (holiday rep), Overseas Supervisor, Euro camp Entertainment Officer, Holiday Park Hosts, First Class Lounge Concierge, Business Travel Management, Cruise Ship Personnel, Hotel Personnel (UK and Overseas), Tour Operator Personnel, or working in Conference and Event Management.

Are there any extra costs?

A high level of personal grooming is required for this course, plus approximately £250 to cover uniform, resources and materials, course-related trips and visits.
