The visit offered students a unique behind-the-scenes look at the brick-making process and a chance to connect with industry professionals.
Led by Mandy Usher, Careers & Employability Sector Lead, the tour began with an in-depth orientation on health and safety regulations and the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) in a working factory environment.
Students then toured the factory, where they saw how clay, mined directly from Ibstock’s own quarry, is transformed into bricks used in building houses and other structures.
The experience brought students closer to the brick-making process and inspired them to see the potential in their own brickwork skills. Ibstock has generously offered to donate bricks to the college, helping students practise with high-quality materials.
