The project invited students to create a personal creative manifesto, choosing a statement that captured their unique 'voice' and vision for their artistic journey. They then transformed these ideas into kites, flying them high for everyone to see.
The creative project has involved every Art & Design student across the college, with Foundation students now taking the lead in bringing it all together for display in Studio 1.
The exhibition highlights the diverse skills, ideas, and creativity of students, who have worked collaboratively to produce pieces that reflect their artistic voices.
By curating and presenting the work themselves, Foundation students are gaining hands-on experience of what it’s like to prepare for a professional public exhibition.
The showcase will open to visitors on Friday afternoon, offering the chance to explore the creativity of East Sussex College’s young artists within a professional gallery space.
Matt Kemp, Head of Curriculum for Creative & Digital Studies at ESC Eastbourne, said: “The Manifesto Kite project has been an amazing opportunity for students to express themselves creatively while working together on a shared vision. Showcasing the work at Towner gives them real-world experience of curating and presenting to the public, which is an invaluable part of their development.”
