Following the recent success of ESC students at the Royal Opera House Challenge 2022, it was another proud moment for one of the students on Lewes’ Filmmaking & Photography course - another reminder of the College’s outstanding creative prowess.
The Young Artists’ Summer Exhibition for the Royal Academy of Arts had over 21,000 entries this year. Despite such a high number of entries, Kim’s exceptional ‘Trolley’ image was shortlisted for the online exhibition.
Speaking on Kim’s achievement, East Sussex College Media lecturer, Olivia Thorne, said, “We're immensely proud of all our students' successes and were thrilled to hear that Kim's image 'Trolley' was chosen for the online exhibition. To have been shortlisted out of 21,000 entries is not to be taken lightly and this is a fantastic boost to Kim's confidence as a creative individual and photographer.
“Kim has been a pleasure to teach these past two years and he has now been offered an unconditional place at Bath Spa University to study BA (Hons) Photography. We're so happy for him and wish him all the success.”
Olivia added, “Every year we encourage all our Photography students to enter multiple competitions including the Royal Academy Young Artists' Summer Show 2022. We've had several successful students' work chosen for exhibition over the years and this year certainly did not disappoint.”
The Young Artists’ Summer Show 2022 will launch online on 19 July. All of the selected artworks will be available to view online from this date and will remain on the Royal Academy for Art website indefinitely.
