The aim for International Women’s Day is to contribute to forging a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive, and where difference is valued and celebrated.
At the helm of East Sussex College is Rebecca Conroy, CEO and Principal. Rebecca’s career in education spans over 25 years, and includes roles in schools and universities as well as Further Education (FE). Her passion lies in supporting young people and adults with barriers and challenges, to engage and appreciate their unique abilities and contributions.
Rebecca said, “East Sussex College strives to create an inclusive environment for staff and students, where diversity is celebrated and equality is observed.
“As an equal opportunities employer, East Sussex College is part of the Women’s Leadership Network CIC, a not-for-profit organisation supporting women to achieve and succeed in senior leadership roles in further education (FE). The College launched its Menopause Policy on World Menopause Day in October 2022. Menopause Awareness Sessions ran on staff development day and the college is set to host regular drop-in sessions for colleagues, set up by Menopause Champions at each campus, to create a supportive environment.”
East Sussex College is home to many successful female alumni, many of whom have challenged gender stereotypes to pursue their passion in what is still considered to be largely male dominated industries. This International Women’s Day, the College celebrates some of the talented women who have studied at East Sussex College.
