College Supports Motcombe Pool Regeneration Plans

Media students helped film interviews with a number of storytellers which formed a listening project at the Motcombe Pool site. Visitors shared memories and stories of how Motcombe Pool impacted their life and their family’s over its 118-year history. Photographs and memorabilia were exhibited and interviews were recorded. It was a wonderful opportunity for connections to be made and stories revisited.

The College’s media team, including Seb Cox, Rob Cunningham, and Jim Lee, have been instrumental in training students and setting up the technical side of the production – a huge challenge in itself. YOU NEVER CAN TELL: Students gearing up to host photography exhibition later this month

Millennials have a bad reputation in the media who don’t represent them any more than the government does. I want to show my generation, show that we do struggle/pay attention/work hard/are educated. All I can do to help my generation’s voices to be heard and to challenge stereotypes and stigmas is to use my camera. By mixing up their faces, hands and statements, their individuality is freed from the judgements of others. Constantly being put down and told how we should be living whilst struggling with increased student debt and rising living costs, there is no wonder we are a troubled generation. Yet as I see it, doing a pretty good job most of the time.

Reflecting on her experience, she said, “Tutors were so supportive, they gave me constructive criticism, just amazing to work with throughout the course.
